个人简介:肖顺元1963年生,现为美国马里兰大学(The Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology Research, University of Maryland, USAAssociate Professor1992年获华中农业大学博士学位。先后在美国佛罗里达大学柑橘研究教育中心(Citrus Research and Education Center, University of Florida, USA 1993-1994)和英国东安格利亚大学(School of Biological Sciences, University of East Anglia, UK1994-2003)从事植物抗病方面的博士后研究。2003年至今在美国马里兰大学继续以拟南芥-白粉菌为模式系统从事植物抗病分子机理研究。克隆了RPW8广谱抗病基因(Science 2001),阐明了RPW8的进化及信号传递链(MolBiolEvol 2004Plant Cell 20032008Plant Journal 20052009),并发现RPW8是特异地定位于寄主与真菌吸器形成的界面外膜上的抗病蛋白,从而进一步解释了RPW8产生广谱抗性的分子机理(Plant Cell 2009; 2013)。RPW8是第一个被发现的、定位于真菌吸器外膜的蛋白,它为研究寄主与真菌病原在互作界面上的攻防机制提供了独特、有效的工具。曾于1991年获得瑞典国际科学基金(International Foundation for Science),1999年入选中华人民共和国春晖计划海外学者,2005年获得美国农业部颁发的新研究者奖(New Investigator Award)。2003年至今,获美国专利3项,美国农业部及国家自然科学基金6项。20121月受聘华中农业大学园艺林学学院讲座教授,从事植物(柑橘)菌根分子机理及开发研究。
