中国农业生物技术学会常务理事、组织培养分会副会长,中国作物学会马铃薯专业委员会生物技术部主任。一直从事马铃薯等无性繁殖作物遗传改良和生物技术领域的研究工作,先后主持国家自然科学基金、国家“863”、国家和湖北省科技攻关等项目20多项,在马铃薯原生质体培养与融合、植物变态器官发生调控、马铃薯细胞遗传、马铃薯种质资源保存与创新等方面的研究处于学科前沿。获国家发明专利一项,获湖北省技术发明一等奖、科技进步二等奖等多项科技奖励,发表学术论文100余篇,其中SCI收录20余篇。
